Sustainable construction and energy efficient functionality

The building industry is estimated to be responsible for around 10% of national C02 emissions, and approximately 40% of landfill waste (the NZ Green Building Council). With this in mind, the intelligent Modform designs are a conscious effort to reduce the impact of their construction and life footprint on the environment.

Minimal construction waste: Modform construction maximises the manufactured dimensions of every building component to reduce cutting and waste; Modform homes create only half the construction waste of a conventionally built home. For example, the bathrooms take into account the dimensions of the porcelain tiles, to not only reduce grout lines requiring cleaning, but to reduce product waste. Careful planning also sees left over cuts of the fire retardant tiles used as cladding for the fireplace hearth.

Energy efficiency: Solid masonry construction provides efficient thermal mass activity and effective sound control between the living and quiet zones of the home. Modern double glazed windows and doors cover more than half of the house, enabling radiant heat to get in and be stored in the mass construction, and then released at night for efficient passive solar heating; little additional under floor or room heating is needed. Solar panels utilise sunshine to heat water efficiently and cost effectively.

Insulation/waterproofing: Highly insulated roofing panels are used to provide reliable thermal performance and insulation continuity. They are also non-flamable, making your Modform home safer than any other. Meanwhile, external walls are constructed with insulated concrete-filled polystyrene blocks: the “number 1 most advanced energy efficient solid concrete wall building system.”
